Live plants are an essential part in my home. Dating (and living with) a landscape designer mayyyyy have something to do with it, but we have plants EVERYWHERE. Why? Read below for my top 4 reasons to opt for real > faux house plants.
1. Greenery is Calming & Restorative
Plants, florals botanicals, whatever you want to call them have a way of making a space feel serene, calm, and clean. Notice how they are often found in yoga studios, spas, and other zen like places? By bringing live greenery into your home you invite that sense of calm which is always a plus over chaos.
2. Live Plants Bring Color into Your Home
Plants are also a great way to add color into your home, especially if you fear straying from neutral furniture and decor too much. You can opt for straight greenery or go a little bolder with birds of paradise or even sunflowers! It’s such an easy trick to make your home feel more vibrant without splurging on that blue velvet sofa.
3. Tending to Plants is Therapeutic
Taking care of live plants can also be very therapeutic. It’s a great way to de-stress by cultivating empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility. There are some wonderful apps (like Planta) to download as well if the thought of keeping something alive makes you nervous. All the instructions are right there so you don’t have to worry!
